The beta channel gives you early access to upcoming Passport Prime firmware before it reaches the main release. It is a great way to try new features first and help us catch issues, but beta firmware is still under active development.
To keep up with the latest available beta software, follow our GitHub releases or the community forum .
Rolling back is not possible. Once a beta version is installed, you cannot downgrade to an earlier version. Despite extensive internal testing, if you hit a bug on a beta build you will need to wait for either a newer beta version or the main release containing the fix before it can be resolved. Only join the beta channel if you are comfortable with this.
Installing a beta
Beta firmware is installed from a recovery file using Passport Prime's Recovery mode. This is an advanced process, so make sure you have a current backup of your device before starting.
Full step by step instructions can be found on our Beta Releases page.
When the official release of that firmware version becomes available, you will need to install it the same way, using the official release's recovery file.
If you run into anything unexpected while running a beta, please reply in the relevant thread on our community forum so we can investigate during the beta period, or contact us at hello@foundation.xyz .
